    Topic Sentences:
1)First of all, texting plays a too big of a role on my life, but I feel like any other college student. My friends and I rather text than talk on the phone or meet up but it has its reasons.

2)Moreover, the fact that my friends and I usually only text is not the biggest of issue when it comes to texting in my life; my boyfriend is obsessed with texting he can be what Moore calls them another “Mr. Text-o-Rama.”

3)Finally, I feel like I should ease down on the texting because is taking too much of my time.

  9. Thesis Statement:
There were times when my boyfriend and I would rather argue through via text, then on the phone or person, which made me feel as if nothing was being accomplished. We also realized that texting was starting to turn out to be our only way to communicate, which was not healthy for the relationship at all. Being that my boyfriend and I used to text all throughout the day, when it came time for us to talk on the phone later that night, there was nothing much to say. In the “Rule of Thumb: Love in the Age of Texting”, Natalie Moore argues that “Technology is slowly killing romance.”

    Topic Sentence 1:
“If emotions become involved, texting can quickly devolve a power play” (Mims and Nollen 174).

    Topic Sentence 2:
“It drains the courting in courtship” (Mims and Nollen 172).

    Topic Sentence 3:
“Technology is slowly killing romance” (Mims and Nollen 173).

  11. Thesis statement: Natalie Y. Moore, author of "Rule of Thumbs:Love in the Age to Texting, says technology is slowly killing romance (paragraph.6). I agree with the assessment that no women dreams of being swept off her feet by a text message.

Topic sentence 1: First of all, women like to feel special and a text message telling her how much you care for her isn't going to cut it.

Topic sentence 2: Another issue with texting is it can be misleading.

Topic sentence 3: Further more, you can't really get to know someone by texting.

Conclusion: Consequently, romance is slowly being sucked out of relationships as a result of the use of technology.

  12. Thesis statement: In Natalie Moore's essay "The Rule of Thumb" she argues that "The same gadgets that allow you to be in touch all the time sometime make th fact that you never really touched at all." (Mims173). Technology is making it easier for couples to communicate with each other but it is also ruining the way couple's interact with each other as well. What this means is that technology is the kiss of death for romance. Nowadays people prefer to do everything through technology, rater than face to face with the person they adore. Truly, technology is slowly killing romance.

topic sentence 1: First of all, one of the main weapons that technology uses to abuse romance is that most people are meeting each other online as opposed to meeting each other through mutual friends, at school or at a park.

topic sentence 2: Along with online social sites like Facebook and Twitter technology also hurts romances when couples text.

Topic sentence 3: Also, couples that communicate with each other through online social sites like Facebook and Twitter do not last very long because over time the couple starts to feel a lack of romance in their relationship.

  13. Thesis statement:Texting has gone to the point where in modern times it is the “in” thing, and everyone is doing it, including myself. (People are going madly insane over texting.) I believe that texting is leading to less than desirable social interaction and as a role texting should only be used to send out brief important information.
Topic sentences:During modern time, I along with other people use text messages to communicate with each other.

However, the question, “Is texting leading to less than desirable social interaction?” is being asked.

Furthermore, texting has gone out of hand, and as a role to play in the lives of humans, I believe people should only text short messages.

Restatement:In brief, texting in today’s society is a type of communication that mostly everyone is using including me. I believe texting has less desirable social interactions and should only play a small role in the lives of people.

  14. As the days pass, things change. In this essay, “Rule of Thumbs: Love in the Age of Texting,” by Natalie Y. Moore, the author discusses the use of text messages in a romantic relationship. The writer points out the negative effects that the new generation of technology has had on today's relationships. She clearly gives her thoughts of how technology interferes with today's relationships, with the consequences that technology is slowly killing romance. This essay expresses many strong points about the use of texting and I lean towards Natalie Moore’s opinion.

  15. First of all, one of the first effects of text messaging is the loss of phone skills.

Secondly, it’s clear that to have a successful relationship a couple needs to have communication.

Make sure you mention your topic again in your topic sentences. You also don't want to use a direct quote for a topic sentence.

  18. Folks,
Your thesis in this essay had to use the words texting and relationships and had to have your stance. Did you agree or disagree? Then your topic sentence had to have your stance in it and exactly what texting is doing for or to the relationship.

Remember, always take words from the question and pop them into your thesis and topic sentence. This will help you stay focussed.

  19. If you got a 70 or less, it is because you went off topic. I didn't see any mass spelling or grammar errors. However, remember, your topic sentence tells me what that paragraph is about. If you didn't have some form of technology and the word relationship in the thesis and topic sentences then you went off.
